Parent Communication and participation
- Parents are welcome to visit our school at anytime, however we do
request that you schedule your visit so that class time will not be
interrupted. We encourage you to participate in fieldtrips and special
events as much as possible. Your involvement benefits your child and
allows for better communication and understanding as a whole.
- Important dates will be posted at sign in and will be sent home once
a month.
- Weekly progress reports will be sent home. Parents are welcome to
set up appointments to discuss concerns.
Health
It is better for everyone concerned, including your child(ren) that the
child(ren) stay(s) at home if he/she appears ill. Any child(ren) with
a fever should be kept home and should be symptom free for 24 hours before
returning to school. Any child(ren) taking an antibiotic must wait at
least 24 hours after the 1st dose AND be symptom free before returning
to school. Please notify the school if the child(ren) will be absent longer
than 2 days or has a contagious illness. The school will notify parents
if a contagious illness is present in a student at the school. Please
see copy of General Permission and Emergency form at end of packet for
specific procedures in dealing with illness while at school.
Clothing
We suggest the children wear clean and sensible clothing and play shoes
with rubber soles to minimize slipping. We do request that if your child
wears a skirt or dress, that tights and/or shorts be worn underneath due
to the amount of time spent on the floor.
The following will not be allowed in the school:
- Torn or ripped jeans
- Open toed or open heeled shoes.
- Short Shorts
- Belly shirts or halter tops
Please bring a bin of spare clothing to be kept in child’s cubby
in case of accident. All removable clothing should be marked with permanent
indelible ink with child’s name (hats, coats, sweaters, etc…).
Snacks and lunches
School provides healthy & nutritious snacks. Please alert us if your
child has any allergies! When packing lunch for your child, please remember
to pack food from the four (4) basic food groups. Please do not pack sugary
or sweet snacks. Your child’s nutrition is as important to us as
it is to you!
Birthdays
Birthdays are special events in a child’s life. Parents are encouraged
to send a special snack for this occasion. Please coordinate with your
teacher for that day. We encourage you to bring cupcakes or cake and a
birthday book. The teacher will provide details. If your child’s
birthday falls during summer months and they will not be present, please
talk to us about celebrating a un-birthday!
Toys
We request that toys be left at home, unless requested by teacher. Toy
guns or knives will not be tolerated in the school.
Discipline
Harsh or physical punishment shall not be permitted. “Time-Out”
is the action taken in the classroom. If the behavior persists the child
will be removed from the classroom and “Time-Out” will follow
through in the Administrators office or the school peace place. Parents
will be alerted to any recurring behavior problems. Communication is vital
in these situations. Discipline shall be consistent and based on individual
need. It shall be of a positive nature directed toward teaching self-control,
self-direction, and cooperation.
Conferences or Parent Concerns
Conferences are scheduled to take place for the older children in the
winter. However, conferences may also be arranged as needed or requested.
Please feel free to call the administrator at anytime to schedule a meeting.
All concerns will be promptly addressed!
Tote Bags
Your child may be required to use a tote bag or backpack for their belongings.
Please make sure that all bags will fit in cubbies. Label, with indelible
ink, all items with your child’s name.
Regulations
Please contact the administrator if you have questions regarding regulations
that Small Wonders must comply with. A copy of the Delacare requirements
will be provided for review.
Most importantly, if you have ANY questions no matter how small, just
ask your teacher or administrator! We look forward to serving your children!!!
